Driving excellence… across APAC

Asia Pacific is a truly exciting region to operate in at the moment. Thanks to large-scale sporting events such as the Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Summer Olympics, the lens is focused on the region now more than ever. Amassing a global audience, the opportunities for the hosting countries are vast however, they do also come with key challenges.

Hosting a global, large-scale event such as the Olympics, will significantly upskill a city’s capabilities in managing large and complex operations. However, as aforementioned, key challenges will need to be tackled. For example, in Japan major infrastructure needs be built or upgraded to accommodate the influx of visitors during the Olympics. This will inevitably be the Japanese travel and hospitality industries’ toughest challenge this year. To overcome this, Japan can leverage the experiences from its Olympic host predecessors, to maximise its own success.

However, the growth opportunities are endless and further bolstered by advances in technology. There is an emergence of promising technology start-ups entering the business travel market that can further enhance opportunities in the space. To date, the business travel market has operated under very traditional methods and processes that may not always appeal or suit the modern business traveller. Large travel and hospitality technology players can no longer rest on their legacy or laurels and should rather use this as a year to engage with their start-up counterparts, to streamline customer experiences, exceed expectations and more importantly, stay relevant.

Multi-national companies are also taking their first steps at deploying new technologies as a means to better engage their travellers and ultimately achieve improved business travel policy compliance. This will likely lead to a variety of flight, accommodation and ground transportation options that are flexible to business travellers’ needs. These tools also promise to make travel booking and travel expense management more intuitive for the business traveller.

TMCs and multi-national companies alike will increasingly offer a variety of ground transportation services to their business travellers, that are adaptable to their budget and service level requirements.

With MICE growth showing no sign of abating across APAC, we look forward to expanding our presence and service geographies to help our clients deliver their exciting projects. 2019 laid the foundations for success and we look forward to seeing what 2020 has in store for TBR across Asia Pacific.
